Since 2014, James has taught as an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Berkeley Law). James teaches Legal Research and Writing (LRW) to students in Berkeley Law's international LL.M. program. In LRW, James introduces students to U.S. legal reasoning and practice by examining court opinions, teaching legal research methods, and developing skills of legal writing and oral presentation.
Since 2018, James also teaches Fundamentals of U.S. Law at Berkeley Law. Fundamentals of U.S. Law introduces law students to the fundamental principles of the American legal system and the common-law method of case analysis. In the course, students focus on crucial doctrines that underpin American governance as expressed in landmark cases of American constitutional law.
